Desert spiny lizard, Sceloporus magister [The Corpus Callosum]

While we have a cold, dreary rain here: a photo of brighter, hotter times:

This is from September 2007. It is a desert spiny lizard (Sceloporus magister) on a desert willow (Chilopsis linearis) with some desert marigolds (Baileya multiradiata) in the background. The local weather station report indicates that it was 84.2 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees C) when the photo was taken.

Droid Eris available for $30, shuns Black Friday theatrics

From everything we can tell, this new Droid Eris deal has nothing to do with the day after Thanksgiving and everything to do with the pure insanity of Walmart Wireless / LetsTalk.com. The same people that brought us the $30 Pixi have slashed the $99 Eris down to $30, which does wonders for removing the Eris from regular Droid comparisons. Judged purely on its own merits, $30 is a pretty smashing price for this handset, but in two years when that hefty Verizon contract is up it's probablySource: Engadget Mobile RSS Feed

To add to the fun, [Sprite_tm] configured a the controllers to work with MAME (an arcade machine emulator), allowing one to play Duck Hunt on a computer in its full glory!

How To Prepare For The End Of The World With Connect Pro?

I remember vividly now. I was preparing for my K12 Connect Pro User Group Meeting. I was excited because I dialed in my content for the meeting. Dell Mini 3i OPhone detailed ahead of this week's China Mobile launch

After so much speculation and rumor, it's hard to believe that Dell's first modern cellphone is ready to launch. And while we've already seen the official press release announcing the Mini 3 for Brazil and China, today we get a followup release with a bit more detail. As expected, the Chinese Mini 3i variant is quadband GSM/EDGE only (no 3G) and packs a 3.5-inch nHD, 640x360 touchscreen display just like that found on Nokia's N97. The 58.35 x 122 x 11.7-mm OPhone will ship in "Red Passion" and "Oiled Bronze" colors packing Bluetooth, a 3 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash and video capture mode, microSD slot, and GPS with pre-loaded maps. And in case you're wondering why China first, that's easy: Dell's going after China Mobile's 500 million subscriber base when its first handset hits authorized stores later this week.

Ruggedized Casio Camera Is As Tough As it Looks

Casio has realized that a ruggedized camera should look tough. Normally these kinds of shock-resistant, waterproof, dustproof machines come in big, bubble-shaped, brightly colored cases. The Exilim EX-G1, though, looks like a stealth fighter with knobs on.

So how tough is it? You can shoot for an hour at ten feet below the water, use it in cold weather down to -10ºC (14ºF), bounce it from seven feet (in tests it survived drops from 26 different angles) and generally treat it like JoeSource: Gadget Lab RSS Feed
